Sebagai sebuah NGO Islam, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Al-Nidaa’ Malaysia (Al-Nidaa’) turut merasa kehilangan dan penderitaan mangsa-mangsa banjir di Pakistan.
Laporan terkini menyatakan lebih 20 juta rakyat negara itu terjejas oleh bencana banjir yang terburuk dalam 80 tahun.
Oleh yang demikian Al-Nidaa’ merasa terpanggil menghulurkan apa jua bantuan yang termampu bagi meringankan sedikit penderitaan mangsa seagama kita itu.
Dalam hal ini Al-Nidaa’ dengan ini melancarkan “Pakistan Flood Relief Fund” bagi mengutip derma untuk dikirimkan ke negara itu.

Diantara kerja-kerja bantuan yang telah dilakukan oleh Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan sejak banjir bermula pada 28 Julai 2010 termasuk:
- Mengangkut mangsa-mangsa banjir ke tempat selamat melibatkan 350 kenderaan
- Menyediakan 105 khemah-khemah bantuan dan 39 khemah perlindungan
- Membina pusat penapisan air untuk 50,000 liter sehari
- Mengedarkan bungkusan makanan dan makanan yang telah dimasak
- Memberikan khidmat perubatan di 92 khemah khas bagi tujuan itu
Lebih dari 16,000 sukarelawan mereka terlibat dalam misi bantuan kemanusian ini di banyak daerah dan kawasan terjejas termasuk Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshara, Swat, Swabi dll.
Al-Nidaa’ menyeru ahli-ahli dan penyokong-penyokongnya, ahli-ahli jemaah dan orang ramai untuk tampil menghulurkan sumbangan terhadap usaha murni ini.

Situational Report of Flood
Flood started on 28th July 2010 in different areas of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa and later on 18 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 9
district of Punjab, 5 districts of Sindh, 7 districts of Baluchistan
and 5 districts of AJK were involved. Now on 4th August 44 districts
out of 123 districts of Pakistan (114 Pakistan 5 AJK & 4 Gilgit)
are in severe flood.
The recent monsoon rains have taken
their toll throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Hundreds of villages in
different areas have been inundated by flash floods resulting in the
desperate loss of life and massive damage toprivate and public
properties, infrastructure and communication system.
According to media sources, in Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa the death toll has exceeded 1500. Over 800 have got injured
and about 45,000 people are still stranded in flood water.
A large
number of people are reported to be missing. Due to submerging of
villages on massive scale about 1.3million people are affected and
displaced temporarily.
A large number of bridges in different
areas have collapsed and roads are badly damaged due to which many
areas have become inaccessible and imparting aid to the trapped people
has become difficult.
Moreover, failure of communication system and outages of utility services have also caused serious concerns to the masses.
The following districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining tribal belt are badly affected by the recent flash floods.

In Peshawar, according to sources30 persons died in
rain-related incidents, 120 injured and 14,000 people including women
and children are displaced. Critical disturbance in communication
system and utility outages are experienced. The provincial metropolis
is cut off from adjoining areas due to breakage of roads and bridges.
In District Peshawar, areas of Daudzai circle and Khalisa circle are
affected by Bara River, Budhni Nala and Kabul River. The areas of
Tarnab, Lala Kalry, Mahal Gabri, Shahgai, Hindkyan, Mahal Salo, Lala
Ahmad, Larama, Garhi Baloch, Kotar, Kukar, Kankola, Dalazak,
Muhammadzai, Daman Hindki, Budhni, Malogi, Jugian, Khazana Tauda,
Nasapa Bala, Fatu Abdur Rahima, Samarbagh, Mian Gaujar, Landi, Daudzai,
Jala Bela, Gul Bela, Islamabad, Qazi Kalay, Jogani, Shangal Bala,
Payan, Wazir Kalay, Qila Shah Beg, Bela Mohammadan, Sarkhana, Pir
Bala, Pir PayanNiami, Khawajay, Banda Bala, Mamoo Khatkee, Bela
Baramad Khel are also affected by floods.
Charsadda is worst affected by the
flash floods. Nearly 60 percent of the area is submerged and thousands
of houses have been demolished by flood water. Above 50,0000 people
have become homeless. 12000 people in different areas are stranded in
flood water.Almost all approach roads to Charsadda are badly damaged
and bridges collapsed.The situation is posing severe threat to
population health as abdominal and skin infections are alarmingly
increasing day by day. Acute shortage of food and drinking water is
also reported. The areas of Sardaryab, Hassan Khel, Gedar, Gul Abad,
Mandari, Shalgazi Baba, Babakri, Shabara, Jangi Koruna, Terbela, Mian
Hameed Garhi, Garhi Hameed Gul, Bila No 4, Shabqadar,Singarh, Mian
Sahib Garhi, Tanab, Shahiu Kulalai, Tulandi (Tangi), Garhi Biar,
Herbiala Gohar Abad, Rajjar, Chak Hesar, Charsadda Old City and Ghazi
Gul Banda are badly affected by flood.
Nowshehra is also facing severe
consequences of the recent flash floods. The casualties have run into
hundreds. Abdominal diseases and skin infections are rapidly
spreading. Thousands of houses including hospitals, schools, offices
and Masjidshave gone under water. Media sources report 7000 people
stranded in flood waterand thousands became homeless. Bridges and
roads are badly damaged and access to most of the areas has become
extremely difficult. The areas of Akbar Pura, Tazadeen Kalay, Mohib
Banda and Nowshehra Bridge were badly affected by flood.
In Dir Upper, floods washed away more
than 110 bridges, 250 houses and many Masjids. The number of deaths has
approached 55 and more than 250 are injured badly. Dir has been cut
off from adjoining areas as the floods have collapsed many contact
bridges. Asheery Dara is in deep trouble due to accessibility
problems.
In Chakdara about 20000 people are
reported to have trapped due to breakage of roads and bridges.The main
Chakdara Bridge collapsed due to flash flood thus disconnecting Dir
Lower from rest of the province. People are waiting at the banks of
the river where only one army boat was carrying 7-8 people in trip.
People are using Bajaur Agency route to reach Peshawar.
In Swat,Kohakan, Malangi, Hisar Baba,
Madyan, Bahrain and Kalam areas are badly affected. The fatalities have
exceeded 250. More than 1000 are reported injured.6000 houses have
been demolishedby the flood and about 1 million people have become
homeless. Many bridges and roads are badly damaged and standing crops
are also washed away by the flood.
In Shangla, the recent flash floods have
wreaked havoc wherethe death toll has exceeded 160 andabout 50 are
reported injured. 3700 houses including hospitals, schools and offices
have been destroyed by the flood.The road infrastructure is badly
damaged and 150 contact bridges have collapsed creating serious
difficulties in transportation across and within the district.
In District Lakki Marwat, flood is
reported in Kurram and Gambela rivers.More than 500 houses including
old jail premises have been destroyed by floods. Thousands of people
are affected. The areas of Wanda Akhudan and Gambela DI Khan are still
under under flood.
In District Mansehra, Naran road is
blocked, Malakandi, Sangarh and Ganol area are affected by land
sliding, Sumallihai Mung road washed away, khasarai area is under
heavy flood and three bridges/culverts washed away due to flash
floods.

100 Shahdadkot villages flooded F.P. Report
| ISLAMABAD: The floodwater is fast roaring into Shadadkot, deluging over hundred villages. The high tide sustained its pressure, causing the temporary protective embankment constructed over Motorway to seep from different points on Sunday. The floodwater entered into three pipes and two watercourses under the protective embankment meant for irrigation in a bid to spare the city the deluge. The current is fast heading to the city now. The water from these pipes and watercourses approached near Goth Din Muhammed Khiazai and Goth Diyar Khan-a kilometer from Shahdadkot. Meanwhile, Tando Hafiz Shah villages has been submerged after increase of super flood down stream Kotri. Flood water has started gushing towards another Katcha village Rajoo Nizamani near Jhirik. Meanwhile entire Katcha area has been submerged and water has started hitting the embankments. There are 26 vulnerable points on both sides of river embankments in this district. The most vulnerable points include Soorjani, Monarki, Sonda-hilaya bund and MS bund. The flood water breached the embankment of RBOD canal, over-topped KB feeder bind and started entering it on Sunday. Hectic efforts were underway by the administration and all concerned departments to save the dykes and avert any major eventuality. Army jawans were assisting the administration in all out efforts in this district. Floodwater was also surging constantly in Indus through Thatta district, mounting massive pressure upon Manarki, Surjani and Sawanda safety embankments while the repair work at safety dykes in Dadu District to fill in breaches was underway on war footings. Meanwhile, over 90,000 people have been evacuated to safer places and more people are being transferred to safer locations. Women and children have been dislocated to safer places during rescue operation being conducted by Navy in Kati Khoso Goath while efforts are underway to evacuate remaining people stranded at separate positions. Shikarpur District also remained in great flood threat as flood water volume was raised in Indus River up to more then 1,100,000 cusecs at Gudu Barrage and the same flow at Sukkur Barrage therefore all out efforts were being made to protect Shikarpur district from the flood threat. According to Federal Flood Commission, Indus is in very high flood level with falling trend in Guddu-Sukkur Reach with 783,000 and 867,000 cusecs respectively and is in medium flood in Chashma-Taunsa reach with 436,000 and 437,000 cusecs while it is in low flood in Tarbela-Kalabagh reach. River Kabul is in medium flood Stage with falling trend at Nowshera with water discharge of 82,000 cusecs while Chenab is in low flood with falling trend at Panjnad, whereas Ravi is in low flood with rising trend at Shahdra. A boy drowned while three women were saved as a boat they were traveling in capsized near Ubauro on Sunday. After entrance of more flood tides from three sides into Jaffarabad district, water level has risen by 13-15 feet in many areas particularly in the district headquarters Dera Allahyar while Provincial District Management Authority's (PDMA) compiled report by 20th August had confirmed displacement of 1.1 million people and killing of 40 persons by raging floods in Balochistan. On Sunday, dozens of flood victims most of them children suffering from gastroenteritis and other waterborne diseases were brought to Dera Murad Jamali, Sibi and Quetta hospitals. Doctors told media that due to acute shortage of required medicines at the hospitals and medical camps, fear of deaths of a large number of such patients had emerged. Meanwhile four dead bodies were recovered from the flood-ravaged areas of Jaffarabad District and two more women died of gastro in the relief camp on Sunday, police sources said. Army has established tent villages each at Dera Murad Jamali, Dera Allah Yar including a Field Hospital at Dera Murad Jamali to provide cooked food and medical treatment to over 3000 marooned people. Four Helicopters, 16 boats and 2500 Jawans of Army are busy in evacuating the flood affected people from Kandha, Gari Karo and Goth Magsi. Additional 10 boats and 10 truck load of relief goods have also been dispatched to Kandha. Two Helicopters along with a platoon of FC has been dispatched to Usta Mohamad to ensure law and order situation. |
